Nature:

An ulcer, which can be benign or malignant, is a lesion of the skin, any mucous membrane (throat, stomach, intestine, bladder, etc.), or of the aorta and valves of the heart.

Incidence:

Ulcers may occur at any age but develop most frequently in men between the ages of 25 and 50.
