Other Names:
Distorted memory of past events
Unreliability of memory
Incorrect memories
False memories

Memories are distorted by the peak experience of any episode -- whether good or bad -- and what it felt like when the experience stopped. Thus, memory will rank a short and relatively painless operation which ends on a painful note as worse than an operation which ends on a painless note, even if it lasted longer and was overall more painful.
