Problem

Long-term shortage of mineral energy resources

Other Names:
Reliance on finite energy resources
Nature:
The world will face increasing difficulties in the global supply of energy in general, and oil in particular, in the coming decades, with worldwide implications. Developing countries with less financial resources will lose out in the world-wide scramble for energy resources as the supply constraint increasingly becomes a reality. This is particularly alarming since the domestic energy requirements of developing countries are growing and are expected to grow in the future, with the increasing pace of industrialization and development.
