Patterns & Metaphors

Text

Template:
The written main body of a work, as distinct from its front and back matter such as title page, table of contents, appendices, index and photographic plates, etc, constitute its text. Texts may be given the character of divine, unalterable utterances, as in religious writings and pronouncements, that prevents faults of fact, transcription, translation, or other transmission from being corrected. Conservatism may require that texts with archaic or obsolete language never be modernized such as the Elizabethan English of Shakespeare or the Tyndale-based King James Bible.
