Description:
The practice of [zazen] meditation concentrates the mind and leads to the arising of [joriki], the power to maintain a state of permanent awareness and to act spontaneously and appropriately in all circumstances, however difficult, being in total command of the situation. This is one step towards intentionless action - [fugyo-ni-gyo] - which, however, implies total enlightenment, and total detachment from the results of the action and from the self as initiator of the action. For this [joriki] is necessary but not sufficient.
