Shi-ryoken

Description:
The [Rinzai] school of Zen enumerates four ways of seeing which are the ways the world is viewed as one progresses from the state of the everyday person, [bonpu-no-joshiki], with its dualistic outlook, to that of the fully enlightened one. First one takes the view that every subject has an object; then that the phenomenal world is a projection in one's own consciousness; then that one can reach a state transcending subject and object; and finally that there is neither subject nor object.
