Second absorption in the immaterial sphere

Description:
[Hinayana Buddhism] The mind reaches the sphere of unbounded consciousness in the second absorption. Reasoning and deliberation are suppressed. This second jhana is characterized by inner tranquillity and one-pointedness of mind. It arises from concentration, and joy and happiness are experienced.
[Tibetan Gelugpa Buddhism] In this state the object of meditation is the meditator's own mental aggregates or groups of conscious existence (khandas).
Context:
[Hinayana Buddhism] The next two jhanas are in the spheres of nothingness and neither-perception-nor-non-perception.
[Tibetan Gelugpa Buddhism] This is the second of the 4 formless absorptions (arupaya samapatti).<
