Conviction
Description:
Conviction arises when the heart, awakened, overrules impulsive demands and rejects the arguments of the mind. Weaned from concepts of good and bad, one sees both as products of culture. Vowing with reality of revelation and inspiration, one is acquainted with one's own superior consciousness, directing one to the reality of immortality and closeness with God, the creative essence. The moment of conviction cannot be forced, nor can it arise through knowledge or instruction. But when unity and harmony have been achieved, it comes, and the purity of soul transforms the physical eyes (duality) to the unity of an inner eye. However the transformation is nurtured - and this may be through a number of factors, for example the sincere recitation of holy verses - a courage for the quest is generated. The experiential moment of illumination in higher consciousness directs and expands the self, taking the body along with it. All aware, devoid of thought, all receiver or all giver, this is the creation of the heart. The person is awakened to a new means of communication with all around him, whether physical, subtle or essential and to the soul of each object, then the soul of souls of all objects; but there is also a sense of separation from the essence. There is no longer any sense of effort but of joyful contemplation, through experience there is learning to remain steady and sensitive. There are experiences of illuminating flashes of truth, attracting the heart to its single object of desire. Engrossed in contemplation of this single object, the individual feels tranquillity, totality and happiness.
