Concentration without happiness
Description:
Here there is unification of the mind in the jhanas not associated with concentration with rapture, two of both the fourfold reckoning and the fivefold reckoning. This is one way of experiencing access concentration.
Context:
According to Hinayana Buddhism, concentration is considered as of one kind (monad), of two kinds (dyads), of three kinds (triads), of four kinds (tetrads) or of five kinds (pentad). In the third dyad, this contrasts with concentration with happiness.<
