Cessation of suffering

Description:
Suffering is said only to cease when its cause ceases; the cause of suffering is craving and the subsequent rebirth it entails, repeatedly "becoming again" as one craves for things of the senses, for becoming again, for not becoming again. The craving has to be rooted out, not through self-mortification, which addresses only the effects, but through dispassion or "fading away"; this is [nirvana].
