Leadership development

Description:
Leadership is a quality that is developed. Personal qualities which are traditionally associated with the requirements of leadership can be developed as the person himself develops; these include: eloquence, decisiveness, physical energy, chairpersonship, drive, clarity of thought, maturity, good memory, diplomacy, personality, experience, sincerity and knowledge.
Leadership may be described as: the ability to motivate self, and secondly, to motivate others; the ability to see a problem, recognize it, plan a solution, and execute that solution without having to be prompted by someone else; the ability to lift man's vision to higher planes, to raise man's performance to a higher standard, to build man's personality beyond its normal limitations; the ability to make people want to do things they would not ordinarily think of doing; the ability to make people want to accept as their own the object of the social group of which they are a part. According to a recent survey among acknowledged leaders, they themselves considered the most important quality in a leader was the ability to make a decision.
It is also imperative that a leader possess a conscious awareness of his position and what it implies. The aspects of personal growth which contribute to development of leadership potential may be distinguished as: physical development (leading to physical energy, drive), mental development (decisiveness, eloquence, maturity and knowledge), financial development, social development, family life development, spiritual development.
