Elevation of man
Description:
In the Christian tradition, the elevation of man is the granting by God to man of a supernatural destiny (made in the image of God), together with the means of attaining that end. The original elevation of man is seen, in Adam, to have been destroyed by sin and restored through Christ. This second elevation (through Christ) has in common with the first elevation a state of divine grace, and an indwelling of the Holy Spirit and of the theological and moral virtues; in addition, the second elevation is achieved through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
